Whether in the industrial field or the medical field, the PSA oxygen generation system is quite common. This system is generally composed of an air compressor, a refrigerated dryer, an air tank (wet tank), a filter, an oxygen generator, an oxygen booster, an oxygen storage tank, etc. The system is very mature in both manufacturing process and technical application, and its safety is quite high. However, since the system involves the use of pressure vessels (which belong to special equipment), handling the pressure vessel use certificate is one of the necessary conditions for the legal and compliant use of the PSA oxygen generation system.

In fact, our country has strict regulations on various types of special equipment, including pressure vessels, in three links: production, use, and inspection and testing, and implements full-process supervision. The pressure vessels in the PSA oxygen generation system must also undergo supervision and inspection by inspection and testing institutions to ensure that they meet national standards and safety requirements before they can be put into use.

In addition to meeting the rigid use requirements of the country, handling the pressure vessel use certificate also has two other benefits for the user unit:

  • Establishment of Safety Management System: In the process of handling the use certificate, it will prompt the user unit to establish a sound safety management system and post safety responsibility system, and formulate accident emergency measures and rescue plans to ensure that various emergencies can be dealt with in a timely manner during the operation of the equipment.
  • Guarantee of Operator Qualifications: The user unit needs to ensure that the operators obtain valid special operation personnel certificates and are employed by the user unit, so as to ensure that the operators have corresponding professional knowledge and skills and can operate and maintain the equipment correctly.

To obtain a personnel training qualification certificate, four steps are required:

  • Participate in Professional Training: Mainly learn the operation specifications, safety knowledge, and emergency disposal skills of pressure vessels.
  • Pass the Theoretical Exam: Participate in and pass the theoretical exam. The exam content usually includes the basic knowledge of pressure vessels, safety laws and regulations, operating procedures, etc.
  • Conduct Practical Operation Assessment: Conduct practical operation assessment. The assessment content includes practical operation skills such as equipment startup, operation, shutdown, and troubleshooting. Only students who operate proficiently and meet safety requirements can pass the assessment.
  • Issue Qualification Certificate: Students who pass the above assessments will be issued a special equipment operator qualification certificate by the relevant department. This certificate is a certificate for operators to legally engage in pressure vessel operation work.

To sum up, the personnel operating the PSA oxygen generator need to have corresponding operating qualifications. Moreover, equipment quality, professional capabilities, and safety systems together constitute the support system for the safe operation of pressure vessels. They are interrelated and mutually reinforcing, which also provides important guarantees for the safe and stable operation of the PSA oxygen generation system.
