Stainless steel coil heat exchanger
Products Description

Stainless steel coiled-tube heat exchangers are often used to heat or cool products in processing plant tanks and containers. Coiled tubes are an economical and convenient way to obtain heat transfer surface area. A coiled tube is made by rolling a certain length of pipe into a spiral or double spiral shape, with the inlet and outlet arranged side by side. All stainless steel coiled tubes provided by GNEE can be supplied in sections, or manufactured as a whole and subjected to hydrostatic testing.
Stainless steel coil heat exchanger parameters
| Parameter Category | Specifications |
|---|---|
| Stainless steel grades | - 304: For mild corrosion (water, steam, dilute alkalis); temp. range -20℃~300℃. - 316/316L: For chlorides, weak acids; temp. range -50℃~400℃ (316L: better for low-temperature toughness). |
| Tube dimensions | - Outer diameter: φ10~φ50mm. - Wall thickness: 0.8~3.0mm. - Length: 5~50m (seamless/welded). |
| Coil structure | - Coil diameter: Φ50~Φ1000mm (customizable). - Heat transfer area: 5~300 m². |
| Pressure & temperature | - Design pressure: 0.1~10 MPa (up to 15 MPa with thick-walled 316). - Design temp.: -50℃~400℃. |
| Heat transfer performance | - K-value (liquid-liquid): 800~1800 W/(m²·℃). - K-value (gas-liquid): 200~600 W/(m²·℃). |
Key Advantages
Cost-effectiveness:
Significantly lower material and manufacturing costs compared to titanium or nickel-based alloys, making it a budget-friendly choice for non-aggressive or moderately corrosive applications (e.g., food processing, HVAC).
High thermal efficiency:
The helical coil induces turbulent flow in both tube-side (process fluid) and shell-side (heating/cooling medium) via centrifugal force, boosting the overall heat transfer coefficient (K-value: 800–1800 W/(m²·℃) for liquid-liquid systems-competitive with straight-tube designs).
Applications
Food & beverage: Sanitary cooling/heating of juices, dairy, or sauces (316L with electropolished surfaces, meeting FDA/3A standards).
HVAC & refrigeration: Chilled water or hot water loops, heat recovery systems.
Chemical processing: Handling non-aggressive chemicals (e.g., dilute sulfuric acid <10%, alcohols) or brines (316).
Marine & coastal: Low-salt or brackish water cooling (316, avoiding high chloride concentrations that cause pitting).
Laboratories & pilot plants: Small-scale batch processes requiring compact, easy-to-clean heat exchangers.
